Pavonia brasiliensis is a little-known and very easy-to-grow member of the hibiscus family. The woody stems on this upright shrubby perennial clothed with small green hastate leaves. The upper ends of each stem are adorned with delightful 1 1/2 inch flowers of pale pink with a red through most of the summer. To really thrive, Brazilian rock roses love to bask in full sun, reaching up 4 feet in height and 4 feet wide. A water-wise perennial shrub, Rock rose is native to Brazil but is an adapted native plant and flowers are visited by many winged things such as butterflies, bees (both native and honey), and hummingbirds. Zone 7-11.
